Upload Tool
If you need to upload Documents, Templates, Batch Scans or an Invoice Template to MerusCase, our easy-to-use Upload Tool makes the process simple. Start by navigating to Documents > Upload Tool.
Upload Type
Select the Upload Type. Choose an option that describes the type of file you are transferring to MerusCase. File type options include:
-
Document: This is the default option. Using an Upload Type of Document will allow the user to upload files to any case. This will create an activity in the activity tab of a case from which the document can be accessed in the future. For additional information on allowed file types, see the Accepted File Types below. Note: If the Upload Tool is accessed when the user is in a case, the Case field will automatically be populated with the current case. If there is no current case, this field will be left blank. Additionally, the Case field is only displayed under the Document type as each other type is not case specific. You can also upload with no case specified, which results in the document getting sent to your inbox; this can be useful when uploading multiple documents for different cases.
-
Office (MS Word) Template: Using this option will upload the file as a template. The document will then be accessible from the Forms & Templates section of any case. MerusCase templates must have a .docx file extension. This option is only available to certain user permission levels.
-
Batch Scan: The Batch Scan option will parse through the upload while looking for MerusCase Separator Sheets, then break up files at each separator sheet. This is a convenient method for uploading documents in bulk. Parsed batch scan files are available from your inbox or the Recent Firm PDFs section of the Documents drop-down menu. Batch scan documents must be PDFs. Note: This option is only for multiple documents - separated by separator sheets - uploaded as one PDF.
-
Invoice Template: This option will replace the background for invoices created through MerusCase. Any invoice template must be a PDF. Uploading a new Invoice Template will replace any existing Invoice Template. The elements of the template that you can customize via upload are the letterhead at the top and the footer at the bottom. There are many, many more customization options under Tools & Settings > Accounting Setup > Invoicing.
Note
Note that you can always see recently uploaded documents in Recent Firm PDFs. If you've enabled the Block uploaded documents from my inbox option in User Preferences, documents uploaded with no case specified will not show up in your inbox and will thus have to be accessed via Recent Firm PDFs.Upload Methods
From here, you have three options on how to conduct your upload: * Click on the folder in the Upload Tool - which turns green when you hover over it - and select the files to be uploaded. * Drag-and-drop files from your computer to the Upload Tool folder in MerusCase. * If you want to upload the contents of an entire folder, click upload entire folder.
