Motor Vehicle Accident Details


The Incident tab in a Personal Injury - Motor Vehicle Accident case includes extra features to allow easier management of the incident details. In addition to the standard Incident Details, Incident Conditions, and Police report fields, there is an Interactive Accident Map, Vehicle diagrams, and Witness information.

Adding a Vehicle in the Incident Tab

  1. Open the case file.

  2. Click the Incident Tab.

  3. Click the Edit button in the upper right corner.

  4. Under the Vehicles section, click the Add Vehicle button.

  5. Enter a Vehicle Label. This is how the vehicle will be labeled on the accident map.

  6. Click on a section of the vehicle diagram to indicate damage. Once a section is clicked, it will turn red. Click the section again to undo the change.

  7. Fill in the applicable Vehicle Information Fields. This includes vehicle make, model, year, and plate number. You can also record repair costs and other expenses in this section.

The vehicle will show up on the map. Once you are done making changes, click Save at the top of the page.

Using the Interactive Incident Map

The Incident map allows a user to place vehicles and witnesses on a map of the incident location.

Pro-Tip

If you click on a car or witness in the Vehicle / Witness menu on the right side of the map, it will appear in the center of the map. This is useful find a vehicle or witness if they are misplaced.
  1. In the Incident Tab, click the Edit button in the upper right corner.

  2. Use the Location field to enter the accident location. Once a location is chosen, the map will display the surrounding area.

  3. Click and drag a vehicle to place it on the map. Once you drop the vehicle, it will rotate to follow your mouse cursor. Click again when the vehicle is facing the correct direction.

  4. Click and drag a witness to place it on the map.

Note

A witness will only show up on the map if they are added to the case with the People Type 'Witness'. Once the witness is added from the Parties Tab, they will show up on the accident map.
